It was an amazing holiday and I would highly recommend it to anyone... Everyone looked a whole lot better going home than they did when they arrived, some people achieved great weight loss results, some like me just wanted to build strength and tone, and some were maintaining and building their already great physiques.
I stumbled on the Algarve FItness website during the recent snow and after talking to Ray and hearing his no nonsense attitude to health and fitness I signed up right away. I was hoping for an active week's holidays with some fun and relaxation thrown in, but have to say the week with Ray and his crew far exceeded my expectations! Within our group there was a mix of youth and maturity and totally different fitness experiences and levels but everyone was made feel at home and at ease. The trainers catered for every experience and fitness level and adjusted the workouts accordingly. We got to try everything from HIIT, boxing, yoga, trekking, surfing dynamic movements with PT and physio sessions also included. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough, Ray, Eu and the others that work with him all gel together so well so you have a fantastic week of activity in a luxury resort. Our group did partake in the happy hour most evenings so it's not all work, you do enjoy your holiday as well :) I will definitely be back and am already looking forward to it!

Had a superb week with Ray and crew. Great group with mix of ages and fitness abilities , everyone got on really well. Atmosphere relaxed and casual, food healthy and delicious - and surprisingly no cravings or hunger pangs! Training pitched to suit all levels and great fun, with plenty of variety and not to forget enough downtime factored in for relaxatio
Had a great week with Algarve fitness in the Monte Santo resort. Great people and great trainers. You can train as hard as you are able as there were people of varying fitness and the trainers were able to push you to the level of your own fitness. There was hiking, kayaking and surfing as well as training. And if the body was sore there is a indoor heated pool as well as five outdoor pools sauna and spa pools to relax your well worked body. The food was great we had nights eating out and some great home cooked dinners. The whole week is catered for so never needed to worry about food. I highly recommend Algarve fitness to anyone that's looking for something different than lying around the pool for a week. I'm looking forward to spending another week there in May. 😎

On a low energy vibe last October I punched fitness, nutrition, yoga (and quite possibly sun 😏) into the google search bar. This was my introduction to Algarve Fitness and Ray and his dream team. Having just returned I would happily recommend this to anyone who wants to push themselves physically and mentally. I did. I was very comforted by the fact that I was surrounded by highly skilled individuals that GENUINELY (worth the emphasis I believe) care about you as an individual. They cater equally for your worries and your self doubts as they do your aspirations. Your goals are accounted for every step of the way. The activities were so varied in both their intensity and setting. We indulged and got punished a little too 😉with various activities that were carefully mapped to allow sufficient rest after particularly grueling days. You can expect H.I.T, yoga, Physio, 16k Hill treks (I opted for the shorter 11k), coastal walks, boxercise, personal training, stand up paddling, kayaking and more besides. However, the real beauty of this style trip is that you get the personal touch and a modified version of the activities is offered if you are having an off day (I had many and was never made feel like a slacker because I chose to opt out of any given activity). The food was freshly prepped daily and never failed to tantalize the taste buds, in fact I think there’s a market for “Ray’s Recipees’ out there somewhere.... to be continued and I am really looking forward to receiving some in my email Ray (you’ll hardly forget😊) So, here’s the thing. Do you want to look & feel good too, get some heat on your bones, re charge the batteries, meet some interesting people, eat some fabulous food, challenge yourself with some new activities? Then do it... book the trip!

Just back from a week AlgarveFitness! Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a week away to recharge the batteries, up your fitness, eat healthier, learn proper training techniques and get one with nature ( coastal and mountain walks are stunning! ) Ray cooked up some really great dishes which were super healthy and added bonus...he sends on the recipes at the end of the trip! Eu the trainer was brilliant. My goal was to build strength and I definitely felt stronger by the end of the week. There was a nice mixture of training and relaxation time. There’s a spa in this resort so after a day of training you have the option of getting a massage or treatment. Ray brought in some incredible physiotherapists. As a physiotherapist myself I was blown away by their knowledge! My group were great fun so there was plenty of belly laughing too which is always good for the soul! Thanks Ray and Eu for a fabulous week...until next time!

Perfect kick start for your health! I can still feel all the positivity, energy and hard work from the one week with Algarve Fitness. I was looking for a retreat that caters to my current goal to follow a ketogenic diet for weight loss and more mental clarity and have this combined with a high level of activity and training as I had been struggling with that combination before. Very happy I found Ray who truly caters to each individual's needs when it comes to food - chapeu! and workout. The team of local and super experienced trainers, physiotherapists, inspirational yoga and water sports instructors, and boxing champs together with Ray (the brain and the chef) and Eu (personal trainer and go-to guy with a big heart) made this week physically challenging but mentally rewarding. Great mix of workouts with a personal focus on your goals, group trainings - as hard as you want them to be - and amazing nature exploration on hikes, kajak tours, etc. There was still enough time to chillax with the group, make use of sauna, pool and spa of the resort or go for walks and wine or coffee down 15 min to Carvoeiro or just take some me-time with a good book. This is what I think stands out about the concept of Algarve Fitness. There is a superb framework in place to help people get into shape, learn about great, easy to cook food and enjoy nature and a luxury accommodation but it all is done in a non-drill-bootcampy kind of style and very honest, down to earth. No promises of shedding a stone here but if you are after that kick start or a gentle reminder towards a healthier you in an amazing surrounding with great people, then Ray and his team might just be the right people to check out.
